Adviser Magazine

The Austrlian Lending Awards' finallist interviews have highlighted the growing number of women in senior positions within the nation's leading financial institutions.

An initiative of The Adviser and RFi, the Australian Lending Awards held on February 23 2012 will recognise the nation's leading lenders.

The first round of presentations saw more than six women representing the nation's lending heavyweights, including Citibank head of mortgages - strategy, marketing and product Belen Lopez Denis, CBA executive general manager third party and mobile banking Kathy Cummings, ING DIRECT executive director delivery Lisa Claes, ANZ head of broker distribution Meg Bonighton, Westpac head of mortgages Stephanie Williams ansd State Custodians director of operations Heidi Armstrong.

ALA judge Paul Lahiff, Chairman of Stephenson Mansell Group and former chief exectuive of Mortgage Choice, said the representation of women across the finalists was not suprising but certainly impressive.

"In my time with Mortgage Choice, two thirds of calls through our call centre were from females aged 25 to 45. This is a strong demographic when it comes to purchasing and financing property and these women can undoubtedly empathise with this major customer base."
